Maimonides:
A Legacy in Script
Maimonides (1138–1204) was a uniquely influential figure whose writings shaped law, science, philosophy, and faith. This exhibition brought together rare illuminated manuscripts from museums across Europe.
Strict conservation requirements guided the design, creating a subtle, intimate, and slightly mysterious atmosphere. Responding to the gallery’s architecture, a central structure transformed the space, shifting its color and evoking the architectural language of Maimonides’ time.
Designed for a broad audience, the exhibition incorporated a series of scenographic scenes to draw visitors into key moments from his life, adding a compelling narrative layer alongside the manuscripts.
Visitors could listen to an audio narration of letters, revealing his humanity, guidance, and mentorship. The audio enriched the experience, forming a cohesive whole and deepening the connection with the man behind the manuscripts.
