You Must Choose Life - That is Art
Pinchas Litvinovsky

The exhibition showcased a selection of Pinchas Litvinovsky’s works, a prolific 20th-century artist born in 1894 in what is now Ukraine. He trained in Odessa and Petrograd before immigrating to Palestine in 1919, developing a diverse body of work from portraits to avant-garde pieces. His style reflected a variety of influences from contemporary European art, and much of his Jerusalem studio archive was lost or destroyed, leaving only a few hundred surviving works.

Gallery partitions echoed the layered, informal organization of Litvinovsky’s studio and storage spaces, evoking a sense of work in progress. A key design decision was the incorporation of an interactive AI element, allowing visitors to generate customized portraits in the styles explored by Litvinovsky. This digital, participatory feature enabled visitors to share their portraits online, drawing attention to the exhibition and extending engagement.
