Aliza Auerbach: I Stood in Jerusalem
Spanning nearly three decades (1967–1995), the exhibition reveals a Jerusalem beyond its familiar monuments and political tensions. Through Aliza Auerbach's photographs, the city emerges through intimate encounters, everyday gestures, and human connections. A dialogue between photography and poetry offers a layered portrait of Jerusalem.
The simple yet elegant exhibition design uses carefully selected print formats and scales to create a dynamic visual rhythm across thematic selections from the photographic archive.
A mosaic of portraits forms a focal point in the space, bringing together anonymous residents and prominent cultural and political figures in a collective portrait of the city.
Poems paired with photographs are presented as removable prints, inviting visitors to take a piece of the exhibition home.
A darkroom-inspired space reveals Auerbach's creative process through photographic sequences, lightboxes, and a film documenting her work.
